Case SC magneto/distributor

My Case SC has a magneto I have tried to get it to crank but had no spark I pulled the cover off the mag and it s a mess inside
I did a little research and read that a farmall distributor would fit on the case so today I pulled the distributor and drive out of a junk farmall c I have
I didn t have time to bolt anything up today just do a test fit by hand and it looks like it may work
My question is will it work and what s the best way to time it

I know a lot of people will say keep the magneto but mine will need alot of work and the distributor if it will work is ready to go
Thanks for any advice

When I tried my Farmall H dist on a DC Case, I just installed it so the rotor was in the same position as the mag. and installed the wires in the order they were on the mag.

remove #1 spark plug or all of them for ease of turning. get #1 on tdc on compression stroke. line up the rotor to the 2 oclock position where #1 should be. and install it. then u need to set the timing. line up timing mark to the d on flywheel if that's how it is like the D'S. turn on ignition and rotate distributor clock wise a bit, the counter clockwise till you hear the spark jump at the points. tighten er down done. the other way is to put a piece of paper between the points and as rotating it counter clockwise just as the paper pulls out tighten it down there. you are timed.

If your SC has a filter, the "horizontal"
IH distributer is a tight fit, but can be
done & will work just fine. I like the
"right-angle" Delco better, they give you
more room by the filter. We've done
several on SC's & DC's. They work well
and internal parts are not hard to find
because the right-angle Delcos were used
in both Farmall and Allis Chalmers
tractors.

Had the same situation. Installed the Delco right-angle drive unit and have been very happy with it. I did do a lot of clean up on the used Delco I got. I kept the
magneto, (not a Case mag), and can go back if I desire. (Would take a magneto guy to rebuild it)

If you do decide to have your magneto rebuilt, I recommend Rudy Calin. He rebuilt mine for my 49 SC. You can go to his website www.rebuiltmags.com for info.
