4490 Powershift

Working on my 4490 powershift. Stopped using it a
couple years ago because after warming up I woul
lose 1st range of the powershift. Come to find
someone was in there before and did not put the
support washer behind the thrust bearing for
planetary gears. That broke the snap ring and I turn
cause the planetary gears to chip a couple teeth
and send parts into C4 clutches.
I chose to keep duals on because of time and
therefore wouldn?t fit nicely in shop.
Hung motor on yesterday afternoon and will power
wash before putting hood on.
I just thought you guys might want to see what I?ve
been working on and still keeping my social
distancing.
Also I wanted to show you but kind of hard to see.
This tractor has factory spin-outs. First and only
4490 I?ve ever seen with them. Anybody else seen
them?

Just for kicks and being shut up to avoid the virus, here is a cross section of the tranny.

The ball bearing showing is the smaller of the two ball bearings.

I have a case service manual for almost every case tractor we have. They are a must have for these type of projects.

It has that same diagram as well as the parts manual.

I thought the readers of your post might enjoy seeing a cross section of what you tackled. Good luck getting it fixed.

Lots of work to get to the transmission on those 4 wheel drive tractors. Have a 2470 and 4690 but didn't know they had spin-out wheels as a option. Has to be kinda rare.

Congrats on getting that job done, I always hated getting under the tractor and reinstalling the lower cover below the oil pan. I never knew spin out wheels were available for those tractors.
