700B tachometer drive

I removed the plug on the end of the broken tachometer cable and found that the end of the cable looked ok but the "female" end of the adapter in the block seems to be rounded out. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make a puller to get the ring that is swedged into the side of the block out? It appears to be a 3/4" plug with 20 threads per inch but I haven't been able to locate a source for that type of threaded rod to screw into the fitting and then slide hammer it out. Thanks for you help.

I built a puller with the nut from a junk tach cable. Have pulled dozens of them. Seems to work fine.

Not bad, I would guess a couple hundred pounds pull. A puller with steady pull will work better than a slide hammer.

First attempt with the slide hammer didn't do the trick. What did you use in conjunction with the old cable nut to make your puller?

Weld the head of a 1/2" bolt to the tin nut, Find a pipe just longer and bigger than the drive and weld a 1/2" washer in the end.
Thread the tin nut into the drive. Place the pipe over the bolt, thread a 1/2" nut on and pull it out.

DKase, thanks for your help. After ordering some supplies I built a puller and it was surprising easy to remove! Much easier than the blows I gave it with the slide hammer. Space being an issue since I didn't want to remove the injector pump or piping I built a tee using 2 pieces of 1/2 bar with a top made from flat stock. Brazed a piece of 7/16" threaded rod into an old nut and put that through the top of the tee. Worked like a charm! Thanks again for your help.

Oh, and now that I'm inside it appears, after chatting with John Saeli, that the tach drive is gone, probably broken up and at the bottom of the oil pan I guess. He is going to send me the parts to repair it.
Now on to the next repair, the speedometer cable! It's broken off too so today we took moved the steering box to the rear and took the top off the transmission to see what's going on there.
