Didn't want to steal the thread below, but how about posting some pics of your old Cases plowing, or tillage, new or old. These are ones of my 730 Diesel, 500 Diesel, 970 Diesel and my neighbors 970 Diesel, and his 700lp Standard. Bob

We use to have a plow day with all Case tractors and Case plows. Nephews and friends of my son all got married and had kids...no more help. Don't plow here anymore but do some disc-ripper work each fall.

Nice pictures. Thanks for posting. The only question I have is why anyone moldboard plows anymore.

There is nothing wrong with ploughing , provided the conditions allow. Obviously if you farm land with steep hills, light soil, or ground that is likely to suffer water or wind erosion. Where I farm , many still do conventional tillage including ploughs, but others practice notill only. Most no till farmers are growing larger acreages of continuous row crops. Myself I plough down alfalfa sod that has been covered with dairy manure, in preparation for a crop of corn silage. The following year that field of corn stubble will be chisel ploughed and planted to spring grain and under seeded to hay, and will not be ploughed again for several years. Our ground is heavy clay, and doesn?t lend itself to water erosion, and we tend to have a continued snow cover in winter, so wind erosion is not a big issue. Compaction can be a problem on heavier ground, and pulled a conventional plough over it once every few years seems to help. No till farming is totally dependent on spraying herbicides, and if you want to stick to organic principles, the conventional plough is your only choice. Nothing wrong with the tool, but sometimes the apple of the tool is wrong.

My 931 and 8358 hyd. reset 5X18 plow last spring.

Lots of limestone bed rock in these fields. The hyd reset system gets a real workout with sometimes several bottoms tripping simultaneously.

Monday my cousin and I are going to pull the plow out of winter storage and replace necessary ware parts and fix one frog and a broken beam where the reset cylinder mounts. I switched the 931 off the plow last fall and hooked the MX110 MFD to the plow. Lots more traction for the hills and damp spots.-------------------------Loren

There actually are real wheel weights under those too. I have more wheel weights sitting around, but those old front wheels work so well on the outside. They are kind of family heirloom, don't ever plan or want to sell them! Better on the 430 than just sitting in the shed.
