going thru brakes among other things on my 430. I see signs of oil so will change the carrier bearing seals. also on the rear-lock is it a hard job to change the seal-seals in the side gear, my manual is not specific on what is involved?

Good morning Brian . I have not done a 430, but performed
the same task on a 400Case Racine.On a scale of 1 to 10, I
would rate it as a 3.. Over the years while looking through
parts manuals, I have learned that you have to look at more
than one page in the parts book , to get a feel for how it is
disassembled. If you feel confident in your disassembly
process, you will see that it is pretty straightforward. My email
is open feel free to give me a call.CM

Brian, the above info is for the 400 model prior to the 430 and had no differential lock or diff lock seal, that is why you are not seeing it pictured. The seal can be removed easily by sacrificing a o ring pick by shortening it so it can be slid under the rubber seal lip and turned 1/4 turn , grabbing the pick with a pair of side cutters and using the end to pry against and pulling it out.

Before you remove it make a piece of exhaust tubing that fits the shaft with a SS hose clamp on to to mark the seal depth, this is important as the new seal is different than the one you take out unless it has been previously changed. Use the pipe you made as a driver with the SS clamp as a stop. If the new seal is installed to deeply the sealing lip can interfere witht he side gear and destroy the lip of the seal.

think ill let it be tried get a small ..010 feeler in would not go. so hopping it was the carrier seal. at least in these times I am not near anybody and keep busy. thanks for the info
