I just picked up a 1966 430 Diesel. It is a bit rough looking and has some minor issues, but overall seems okay. I still need to pick up an operating manual. I already own a 530 (541) 1961 gas, triple range, NFE, which is convenient. I am going to take the loader off my 530 and put it on this 430. A NFE without power assist is obnoxious with a heavy bucket and wet ground.
430 Diesel, Power Steering, Draft-o-matic, Triple Range, WFE
1) Does this have glow plugs? Is there a starting procedure like a pick up (wait for plugs to warm, etc)? I don't have much mechanical experience on diesels. It is difficult to start.
2) It makes a whining noise at the back axles when backing up and maybe when driving fast forward. Is this something that needs a good greasing?
I am going to go start changing all the fluids for good measure. The rear end is a bit milky.
Thanks,
