71 580ck shuttle

This 580ck has a 4 speed trans with torque converter, I noticed when I shifted the hand lever from forward to reverse I went too far and found another forward gear...is this common?
 
no such thing as another fwd shift position there, I am betting you have a worn out ball joint and it come unhooked and it is still in FWD,,

OK , the lock on the shuttle handle shifter is flimsy ...but what type of fluid to add to the shuttle dipstick housing . As far as the shuttle screen / tube, I did not find them in the shuttle housing near the shifter.
I'm thinking this is the same fluid that is going to the clutch pressure gauge thru the 1/8" tube. (? not sure) Just above this pressure tube is some type of sensor which a single prong but not connected.
 
the fill/check for the shuttle is just in front of the 4 speed shifter cover, big hex head plug,, TCH is what was called for new, so that or any good quality trans/hyd oil will work,, I use hy-tran in mine,, the sending unit with one prong is the convertor temp sensor

case nutty, thank you. I still haven't found the shuttle screen or check it or replace it..the book doesn't show where it is located.
I also need to change the 1/8" tube from the housing to the gauge because it leaks onto the dash wires..I looked in the manual and it doesn't specify the thread fitting sizes either into the housing or the gauge. where can I get a new tube from? NAPA had no idea ...my local Napa is not agriculture orientated of don't want to be bothered getting the parts for my 580ck
