I am trying to find the hydraulic filter on my 401. Hydraulics for front end loader are getting slow and weak. My cd manual doesnt show a location. I m thinking its the lower right under the pto shaft but I would like a better answer than mine. Any help would be greatly welcomed!! Thank you.

We stock the OEM Filter & Gasket, located very bottom right of the rear housing, cap held in with 3 - 3/8" cap screws. However, oil is filtered on the return, and the filter should be re-useable after cleaning, but over time they get punky. The only way I can think of where the filter could be the culprit is if it disintegrated & plugged the intake.

The plugged intake is what I?m afraid of, problem hit kinda quick. Hopefully its just filter cleaning time.
I appreciate your help!! Many thanks!!

When you pull the filter out you can see the intake screen for the pump through the filter hole. Another potential cause for your issue could be the two orings that seal the pump to the hydraulic housing or the pump is just plain wore out.

Does the screen come off where it can be cleaned? Where and how can you check the o rings? I can see the screen but Im afraid to pull too hard to get it off to clean it.

The screen does not come off it is brazed onto the end of the pipe. The orings that I mentioned are behind the valve body/pump. If you pull the valve body/pump you can get to the bolts that hold the suction tube in and then remove it to clean it.

Good luck!
