Case 188 Diesel Question

I am working on my boss's old Case 580B. He believes it is a 188 motor. Serial number plate is unreadable but it matches all the diagrams in the shop manual.

He was running it and it shut down like it ran out of fuel. Trying to restart, it sounded like there was zero compression. He said it got hot and ran tough before it died. He was told headgasket was likely toast. I pulled the head. Gasket looks fine as well as the pistons and cylinders but...... 2 bent pushrods, #1 exhaust and #2 intake. And.... if I put a pushrod in each of the lifters and spin the motor, they dont move.

Plan is to pull the front cover and take a look but wanted to check with you here to see if maybe I am missing something?

Very rare but I have seen cam keys shear, I do not ever remember gear failure but it could happen, at any rate the cover has to come off..

Having an issue with the crank pulley. It hits the frame before it moves far enough forward to come off. It looks as if the pulley has moved forward on the collar that slips onto the crank.

I cut a piece of 3/16 the width of the crank to act as a spacer and then tried to drive the pulley onto the collar. Wont budge.

Are these available if I cut the outer pulley off so it will come off?

I'm not much of a mechanic. With that in mind, nothing ever seems like an easy fix. The best of luck/skill/endurance/perseverance to

Had to torch the pulley off to get the front cover off. Found out why the lifters were not moving. The cam sheared off right behind the sprocket. Cam still spins which is good. Not sure why it happened.
