Need Help or Suggestions on 1070

First off let me say I love Case tractors and enjoy working on them.

BUT...who ever thought it would be a good idea to put a coupler on the shaft from the PTO to the shaft from the flywheel on a 1070.

Has anyone else dropped the coupler into the transmission when removing the rear pto housing? Is there anyway to get it out without remove the power shift valve body?

I have the case manual and it does not mention that little detail about the coupler, when working on the PTO.

1370rod or Mel, I know you guys have worked on these more than I have. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Nedd

It will not be accessible without removing the top transmission cover. there are only oil porting holes under the valve I can truthfully say I have never had that happen and I have done many of them. Sorry I do not have any better news.

Just a thought and I don't know so I will say there MAY be a hole underneath the ring and pinion where oil can get back and forth, if so maybe you could use an extendable magnet ind drag it back, as I said IF there is a hole there and IF it is large enough.

That?s what I figured. I?ll check again but it did not
look like there were any oil holes big enough to get
to it. Thanks mEL
