Front axle my 1030

Was leaking grease onto my tires. I had the
seals replaced and thought someone like to
see what the universal joint looks like. It
surprised me.

Good afternoon, just wondering if you could tell us the history of your 1030 tractor with FWA? I have seen a few pics of this beauty on here before. That is a beautiful looking tractor in my eyes. Just curious about the FWA addition to your tractor. I would like to see more pics of it to, if at all possible. Thank you.

Correct me if I?m wrong but I?m pretty sure widefront has one of the three that Case made at the factory with the Elwood front wheel assist and drop box. There are other aftermarket ones out there but they lose 4th and 8th gear. The factory ones have all gears and are much cleaner machining where the front drop box attaches to the transmission. There was quite a discussion on these several years ago.
I have seen this tractor up close and it is a BEAUTIFUL machine.

What do the 1200?s have on them? They are spherical looking joints but I haven?t ever had one apart to look at it.

Hey Collector!! Ever drive one like this?? 1943 White 6 Ton 6X6. Also built by Corbett and Brockway. Corbett had the contract and supplied the cabs, but needed help filling the contract.

My old 60 Chevy 4x4 truck had closed front steering knuckles ( like that tractor has, keeps dirt out), but open u-joints. Those in pic are constant velocity joints like front wheel drive cars have. What "parts bin" maybe borrowed from may include Oshkosh truck or AM General 6x6 3ton army vehicles. Rockwell International made transfer cases for some early/very heavy duty AWD applications. Elwood or Coleman had conversions for IH & Ford. Minni-mo 706 4x4 might be close as they run about 105 hp too. Will be hard find but if successfull, post solution for the archive or record other people learn from please.

My wife's grandfather had this tractor and I know nothing about it. There is no serial number plate on the tractor and the number on the tin is gone but guessing it's a 1030. Can anyone tell from the pics I will attempt to attach if this is an aftermarket Elwood front axle? Thanks
