Fuel Additive

I?ve used an additive occasionally in the SC I had and didn?t have any problems. I though it maybe run better with a fuel additive, but maybe it was just my imagination.

Put a can of seafoam in the gas tank once or twice a year. It will help keep your fuel system clean. I have avoided a few carburetor disassembly by using seafoam to clean out a carburetor.
 
If your tractor sits for any period of time, especially if you use alcohol blend gas, Seafoam does seem to help. I put a bottle in my old Ranger pickup which sets for a month or more. It was running rough and it got noticeably smoother when I added a bottle of Seafoam and 5 gallons of fresh gas.
 
I use Seafoam in everything.

I make my own which is much cheaper:

4 parts diesel
2 parts Naptha
1 part isopropyl alcohol (IsoHeet)
 
When I leave a tractor parked for a length of time I shut the gas off under the tank and open the petcock on the bottom of the carb. This way there is no gas to gum things up.

There is on ingredient that is in a few brands that cleans varnish out of a fuel system more effectively. I spent part of the morning trying to find what it is called. I ran into it about a year ago, but have had no luck this time. It doesn't show up on a MSDS sheet for seafoam due to manufactures trade secret.

I don?t drive my 2007 F150 in the winter, usually from November to April. It gets parked in the garage with whatever gas is in the tank. All of the regular gas here is E10 and my truck never fails to start and runs smoothly after it?s winter snooze.
