Does anybody know if there is a replacement seal for this actuator on a 54 500? Or is there a way to fix it without parts? There is a LOT of fluid coming back out on the right side here the piston goes in and out.

There are 2 different size cylinders on the 500 tractors. Click on the link, PS cylinders items 093 & 094 under STEERING will show the seals that at a quick look appear to be o-rings, click on the o-ring p/n a popup page may give you the o-ring size.

You will need to check all items 089 down to get all the seals. Good news is all the o-rings I checked had the dimensions available.

I have had one apart much like that that came from a Case combine and it had only common size o-rings in it.

you would need to carefully take it apart and do some matching with the seals. might be bushings in there that are worn.

Today's Featured Article - Welding Basics - by Curtis Von Fange. One of the most useful skills that an owner of older equipment can have is the knowledge and ability to weld. It seems like the older equipment can do a job, albeit slowly compared to newer stuff, but it tends to break more often. Many of the breakdowns are related to the implements that are being used: the disc, wagon or bushog are among them. Knowing how to fix stress cracks, reinforce weak joints by welding on steel support plates, or cutting and shaping parts and adapters out of raw stee ... [Read Article]
