Case 1170 PTO Brake

The pto brake on my case 1170 was bonded on. Appears to have been some type of glue. Case dealer sold me a brake pad that is screwed on per their manual, however my brake backing has no screw holes. Has anyone bonded a new pad on?

My guess is the brake you have now was replaced at one time
as the latest was a bonded on assembly. Early units were
screwed on. I would think JB weld would work on that as it is
oil resistant. Make sure surface is oil free and clean. I would
use the original stuff that needs 24 hr cure time. Might not hurt
to ruff up the steel surface a bit to give a little tooth for the JB
to cling to. Maybe someone knows what was used at a factory
to bond them. Rod.

(quoted from post at 18:00:40 02/10/20) I drilled the hole, screwed, and glued mine on.

Did you use Two part Epoxy or JB Weld?

I drilled by backing and used Case screws to attach pad. I also used some two part epoxy to glue pad on. I found some that was oil resistant and good for heat up to 300 degrees. It been a few weeks with no problems.
