DB885 Diesel bottom hose heater

Any recommendations or warnings? Haven't looked for, at or thought about buying one in over twenty five years so I suspect things have changed.

It sounded like you had already made your mind up on using a lower hose heater. That would be my third choice. First is would be an in block heater (heat is inside the block where needed). Second would be a tank type heater (heat can be circulated further away from the thermostat with less chance of it opening). Third would be a lower hose heater (limited circulation of the heated coolant, more chance of opening the thermostat and heating the radiator more than block - seen it done). That said, I don't know the options for a block heater, tie in points available for a tank heater, or lower hose configuration (which can effect how well a lower hose heater works) of your tractor . The lower hose heater may be your best option and I don't think they have changed in 25 years.

Scott, I have no info for sourcing a lower hose heater for an 885. Just curious why you need one? Mine starts well off the Thermostart or pump retard screw.

This may be harsh, my apologies in advance if I hurt your feelings...

Asking questions to a group of people who likely know a whole lot more about a subject than you do, all the while claiming to know the answer already(even if it isn't right, or the best), makes people not want to deal with you, or offer insight. Not the first time you have done this, or the second, or third...

Use a block heater.
