Case 2470

I have a case 2470 that has done it all. I used it on a Ferguson 8 bottom and a 30 ft international cultivator I thought I?d go on the Case section as no one on the other page can help me. My tractor has been starting to grind gears while shifting even without a load, a few months back I was doin my fall ploughing and It started grinding while pulling the plough. Anyone know what I need to do here and or what the price will be.

Does the engine still surge when the clutch pedal is depressed? Rod.

Does it grind in all gears? If yes it could be the input gear to transmission from the power shift. Would have to split and pull out all powershift parts to get to back and see. Lots of $$$

When I?m driving i can hear the gears grinding, even when I?m not shifting.

Yeah, my neighbour told me the powershift will probably cost more than I paid for the tractor. I haven?t tried it it all gears as I had to get it home and did t want it stuck on the highway.

Continuous grinding noise is a serious issue. Unless you can repair it yourself and have access to good used parts it would cost way more than the value of the tractor to repair it. However people still do occasionally . Rod.
