Sprocket number

Pastor John,

That number does not appear in either the late model book #519 (serial #560000 and later) or the supplement (serial #8025740 and later) that has the foot clutch, front axle, drawbar, and seat changes. The only sprockets that come up are the 31 tooth and 38 tooth, however, these books do not cover DCS or DI models which may have different sprockets.Don

My parts book is an A519 with 10/58 as a date. My "4" sails down twp gravel at 20mph, easily and obviously has lower tooth count sprockets. Haven't cracked it open to count teeth as of yet.

Forgot the rest - Mine has to have the "special for DC" C4685A 31 tooth sprockets. Where did that part number come from? Larry

It came from my build card Larry. I got it yesterday from Joan .Everything that I?ve looked at from Pastor John?s parts book does not show that sprocket number CM

Chuck we might have to get into service bulletins of that era, pg by pg since I've never seen an idex. I have complete bulletins and a lot of svc letters from the late 30s thru the 50s, probably a dozen of the ol leather binders. A good project for ya, would keep you off the streets for while. Stop on by....... (Don't pick Jon up, we'd never get anything done.........)

Thanks Don and to all the rest for your comments and research!

I was telling Chuck it seemed to me if Case included the sprocket number on the build card maybe it was a special order.

I could be reading more into it that what?s there. As you said Case had an abundance of those Letter Series on the lots at that time.

And thanks Don for the picture of the Case Dealership I will be framing it to display in My Case Mancave!

I tried to read through the comments but may have missed it if someone posted that is a order # and not a part # is why you cannot find it in the parts books,, a dealer order book would have the description for what that part # option has in it, x amount of links and # teeth

Pastor John,

You're most welcome for the dealer picture, glad to share it with someone who will appreciate it. In regards to your number, Tom is probably correct, it could be a special order. Which is what is listed in the parts book as a 31 tooth sprocket option for a DC. So, you and Chuck might get lucky. Don

I have a 500 dsl,, when I got it I knew right off it had lower gearing just by how it moved in the gears as I had grown up running another 500 we had and used,, when I seen the build card I knew I was not dreaming it up lol
