DC cold weather problems

Anyone else have cold weather brake problems on their late model DC? When I apply the right brake the left is engaged at the same time and the tractor will not turn. The grease on the brake shaft is so thick that the right brake will not turn on the shaft that engages the left brake. I guess it is time to break out the corn head grease!

Normally when I run any of my old gals in the winter, they get or have fresh or oil that is free from water. This will help you now maybe 3 magnetic heaters slapped on the belly might get it moving now,

Man that has to be COLD but I was at your place and it was Cold that day too lol do you have a port a power you can put a grease gun hose on and flush them with oil? easy to run grease back when it warms a bit

Warmed up to -12 before I started the propane 930 to blow snow. Start on vapor and let it run 5 minutes before switching to liquid...runs great at that temp. -2 was as warm as I saw today.

From the picture, apparently the right brake pedal bearing is "tight" on the shaft. Without a bronze bearing, it is subject to rusting tight if the clearance it close.

If it has been oiled as you suggest and no seal, it may be bound up of with dirt and crud.

I think a light penetrating oil or WD45 would be the first attempt rather than any kind of grease that does not penetrate very well.

From the picture, it looks pretty easy to remove the pedal and clean the bearing.

That's the one! On all this snow and ice it will not turn without help from the brakes. When I push on the right brake the left one comes on also and all that happens is the engine pulling down. The brakes worked fine before the below zero weather. This thing gets greased several times a year so nothing is seized up. The grease on the brake shaft is so thick the pedal will not turn on the shaft. I need to get the grease gun with the corn head grease in it from the machine shed several miles from home to get it working. If that does not work I will need to take it all apart clean the grease out and oil it.
