Our Case 1840 skid loader with over 14,000 hours and going strong. Other than a few starters, alternators, and water pumps the engine hasn't been touched. Only left the farm for a new hydrostatic pump at around 9500 hours - all other repairs were able to be done on farm. For what it does, there's not a more durable piece of equipment. Has the most hours of any piece of equipment in the farm, and is relatively "new"!

What's the highest hour machine on your place, and how hard is it to maintain?

Dad has a 2094 he bought new that has over 16,000 hours. Kind of semi retired, has a loader but usually only grinds feed, runs auger and hay rake. Has a 3294 that we have no idea the hours it has, bought it used and put a loader on it for quite a few years. Still have it but it needs alot of work. Hasn't had a loader for a few years so it hasn't done much. Front end has a noise and has numerous leaks. Tach says 9000 hrs but I believe it is 19,000.

The older stuff didn't have hour meters. What would you figure a '48 VAC that gets used as a chore tractor would have? There are probably tractors out there with 20K on them or more.

True. We have some Farmall M's that have bare pedals that have seen lots of hours!

Have a 1370 that finally blew a head gasket around the 20,000 hour mark. The hour meter turned over and quit at around 15000 hours but we used for 5 more years for odds and ends, Grinding, raking and other things. It did have the bolts for the torque limiters increased back in the late 70,s or early 80s but engine was never touched
