970 Trans valve

Hello. Our 970 has an intermittent violent engagement with the inching pedal. I did the flowmeter checks & the results were ok. I have taken off the trans valve to clean the pilot spools but found the c3 retard spring sticking out from the retainer .The spools are all free in the bores . The trans. shifts fine once the inching pedal is up. Does anyone think that the c3 retard valve would cause a violent engagement with the inching pedal?

I have seen a few things cause this, platform/iso mounts bad/broken, a bad spring in the clutch modulation spool,, and problems in the clutch packs inside the powershift,,

I chased a similar problem, turned out the powershift cable had so much wear in the ends it wasn't letting it go into first.if shifted down by hand it rarely acted up,but if expected to return with the pedal,it would throw you out if the seat..clint

i never shift them with the clutch and always taught new owners to shift manually unless it was a emergency, but I can see where you can have issues doing it hence the reason we stressed to not do that

I fully agree with that, unfortunately not everyone is willing to listen, but that also keeps us with incoming work, lol.clint
