A drainage ditch on my north fields had silted in after the last two years of pounding rain from the somewhat newly built subdivisions across the road where the water comes from that required the ditches to be installed,, it was backing water/ice on their side I guess about 700 feet,, the City came and cleaned the culvert's on both sides and the silt on their side,, I would have already done this int he summer but the oil fields were running hot and heavy so not backhoes were available. Dealer here where I rented this has a very poor crew doing maintenance, seen it on every machine I have rented from them. it was not fueled, greased, fluids topped off where they should be and the oil is cola black,, the machine had 152.3 hours on it when I picked it up,, also dirty inside and out but yet it says it has to be CLEAN when I bring it back yea right,, I had just passed the half way point on the job when a Squeak stared in the swing,, so I stopped and came to the house,, I had 4 solid hours digging at that point,, but with my grease guns all outside and the temps had dropped to 8 above,, so I brought them in the house to warm up over night so I can grease her all up for the rest of the job,, it is a nice machine but I have few things I do not like one is the pilot controls,, but for this job they work just fine, the big one is the electronic foot throttle,, roading is the place I am not happy with it,, and erratic operation,, not a deal breaker at all just not something I would have approved had I been in the testing crew when it was installed,, I do give it a 9 out of 10 rating all in all,, very well balanced and Fast digging,, as Case machines have always been known for I can sure see why they have been the #1 TLB since the 320 was released in 1956, this machine has a quick attack loader bucket with aux hyd, heat/ac ride control, powershift and a whole lot of other goodies I am sure I have not found yet, the radio alone is so fancy I just know how to tune and change volume,

Here in Iowa, most all new construction requires a retention pond so not to cause the issue you're having.

Not required here,, both subdivisions are a joke as far as getting things reseeded and right,, the City will not do squat to them as its a huge increase in tax base for them,, they are in the City I am in the County so its a battle of wills so to speak lol I do not mind having to do maintenance,, just hope this lasts and it should

Well this sure looks to me like a original oil filter, it is painted the same as the engine,, and has sticker on it,, never seen that on a new oil filter you buy so I am guessing it was never even changed at the 25 or 50 hr point like I would think you would still do on a new engine/equipment?? The fuel filter does look like it was changed I think,, the oil looks far better after me running it and working it steady for over 8 hrs now,, not as dark as it was when I picked it up,, and the hour meter now reads 160.3 hours I guess I would have thought it should be changed but maybe not, it's goes back in the morning lol

Owners manual in the skid loader I purchased this summer calls for 500 hr. oil and filter interval, little to long for me. No mention of changing at 25 or 50 hour intervals on break in. Want me to change planetary oil at 120 or so hours though. Tom

Your close Tom (Iveco), when they are kept like you have mentioned, it would seal the no sale to me. We always had rental units, and if I didn't check them when they returned somebody else did that would make sure they were clean and levels up, fuel where it was suppose to be. It will probably get the best care its had at your farm.

Thanks Dan it was indeed sad to see it being taken care of this way,, I am not sure what to really say to them when I take it back, they do not give a squirt what I have said to them before,, but I am not impressed I had to buy 5 gallons of Def for a 1/2 tank of dsl,, and then I used just about a full tube of grease on it,, as I greased it twice,, I sure do not mind greasing it once in the 7 1/2 hours run time I have on it now, (will be 8 or just over when I road it back) but I could have shaved another hour off the meter had I not had to make a extra trip back to the house and job site if it had been filled with Def and greased when I rented it like I was told it was,, I am just being petty I suppose but where they charge me for a certain time limit per day the machine should be working and not roading back to do service they claimed they did,, I would have done it before I went to the job had I known about the level gauge on the Def tank, no matter it is done, I already bought the extra jug of Def and again greased the hoe so it is indeed in far better service condition than we I picked it up and I learned a bit about a current machine in the process so I will chalk it up to education. I Love the seat in looks and comfort

Tom that is a fancy interior and seat for a backhoe, I don't look at new machines, I guess I don't know what I am missing. You mentioned pilot controls, how is that different from the other controls? Will you push the dirt you dug out from the out in the field? Rod.

Rod,, I will haul most of the dirt tot he field across the ditch as it has a low spot I need to fill, about 10% or so I will leave and contour it into a berm to keep the water in the ditch when a flash flood of water hits,,
