Nice 212 chopper

Had to deliver a container in Wisconsin today and saw a sign for machinery for sale and this 212 chopper caught my eye. Looks straight and in good shape. Should be usable. Only thing I saw wrong was a broken gathering chain and no drive belt. But the belt may well be in the shed. Was just an old woman there and I didn't want to bother her much.

This is not mine and I have nothing to do with it. Just passing it along if someone is interested.

It would be a shame if it went to scrap. Looks like a Papec that was on the farm here back in the 1960's.

that one is all CASE built the 300 that replaced it was a IH for some reason,, I would trade my 300 with two row head and pickup attachment for that 212,, they are good solid simple machines,, way to far from me and no funds again this year for things like this I wont use ,, too bad looks like a shedded unit

Too poor, and it's not right for my collection. I think someone is going to buy it tomorrow tho.

Around the 1960's some of the manufacturers decided they could do better on cost if a product was built outside the company system. Case most likely decided that they could make more profit bringing a machine in from another company versus building it themselves. There was a period in the late 1970's that IH was building some hay and forage implements for Ford. Allis Chalmers built a forage harvester for Ford during the 1960's and if you look at the Outback Toy website you can buy that very chopper in toy form in either AC orange or Ford blue.

There is more to the story I know I just did not add it,, we had a dealership starting in 1966 we just never sold any row crop equipment,, nothing grown here with irrigation until you get 100 miles either side of us,, which is where I found the 300 I was going to chop some corn test plots I grew a few years,, when I bought it over the phone I was told it was a 200 like above, when I got there I took it anyway as it is in nice shape,, but it was never the model I wanted,,

I am kind of late on this post but if you were closer I would take you up on your offer to trade as I would like a Case 300 or an IH 550 for my collection. It has been a few years since I saw a good Case 300. Tom
