Top 10 CASE tractors?

Thanks for posting Don, I really can not comment because I lack experience with a few of those models. Interesting to hear other views though, like politics we will never all agree. He did have a few of the numbers wrong but that had nothing to do with why he chose what he did. Fun to listen too. If I was asked to pick a favorite I would go nuts trying to decide, Rod

I won't keep my thoughts a secret. I agree with the VAC series, 1200, 1070, C, and the 930. The VAC series I think was the first tractor on the market that was offered various configurations with just slight alterations to the basic chassis . Other companies would copy this idea. The 1200 started off Case's successful entry into the 4x4 market. The 1070 was a new modern tractor Case badly needed at the time go head to head with all the other 1960s modern tractors the competition offered. For the record I consider the C/CC/L kind of the same tractor or group and again they were a tractor Case badly needed and would carry them for the next 20+ years. The 930 was maybe a plain Jane tractor but a popular tractor at least where I'm from. I haven't read or heard too much of the 300. Maybe I would have scratched it off and put the DC in its place since if I'm not mistaken it was the most popular tractor they built. I would have left off the 600 because of too much similarity with the 500 that is on the list. And I would leave off the 900 for the same reasons. The 930 is already on the list. I would have struck the 2090 and added a Case steam tractor since they were the leader in that area. Another tractor I might have added was the LA. Top of the line, more powerful then a W9, very popular.

its just his idea of the best. even him talking about engine in litres instead of cubic inches made no sense as the farmers know C.I.D. not litres.

It's hard to believe a representative from the 430/470-530/570-630 line up was not represented in his list. My pick of the litter would have been a 570 diesel, with hydrostatic steering, dual range, diff lock, draft-o-matic and a ROPs/Canopy (just in case were getting specific).

It seems to me he doubled up in a couple of areas. The 500/600 and 900/930 had a significant impact, and should be on the list. I just don't think they needed to be represented twice. I would have picked the 600 and 930.

The 94 series were excellent machines that were the product of many changes and enhancements of the revolutionary 70 series. I would have selected the 2594, and the 4994. Both were serious beasts that deserve a place on any Case top 10 list.

Lastly, I think the 830 had a significant impact in the midwest on livestock farms. It may have been the most versatile tractor made in the 1960s.

Opinions are like backsides, everybody has one. All are great tractors but he doesn't seem to have any actual experience with some of them. He likes some of them for the looks. As an owner of a 351 I understand that, but I would want better info before I dared make a list.
