New tractor SC or DC?

So I purchased this SC or DC?? to go along with my VAC, L and 830.. anyway I guess my question is is it an SC or DC? The lady I purchased from (who's husband has passed) though it was an SC but wasn't sure, I cannot find a ID tag anywhere in the usually locations for them.. Is there one on the block somewhere? Its been sitting for about 15-20 years, the motor turns so I'm hopefully without too much effort it will run again.

With hand clutch lever on right, I'd say SC. If I recall brothers DC I sold him the hand clutch is on the left. I always look at the front wheels, DC has three wheel bolts, SC uses five.

DC's battery sits up top right behind the steering column, behind the fuel tank on narrow fronts. My guess a 1949 or older, just a guess. gobble

Definitely an SC, looks like a nice one! If the serial tag is gone from the dash, look for the serial number on the left side of the block where it attaches to the clutch housing, some have one stamped on the housing, if I remember correctly. Subtract 4 from the first two#'s for the serial#. Jal-S

Case D series from 39 thru 53 had a cast iron grill.

All S series used a stamped steel grill.

D series grill also features Case verticle on grill where other lettered series were horizontal.

I bought a case expo shirt on rollag this summer with d series grill on it, cast grill with verticle letters.

Also, different years of D had clutches on different side.
Our 40 D has clutch on right that pulls back to engage.
Our 52 D has clutch on the left that pushes ahead to engage.

But the 43 SC we pull the 24ws baler for many decades is on the left but pushes ahead to engage.

I had a CC years ago that pulled back to engage, had to really THINK when loading/unloading it on a trailer. The front wheels are the first thing I look at on SC/DC models and count the bolts.

Thanks for the info, the only numbers I can find anywhere on the block is over on the right hand side, sort of behind the right brake pedal, there is a 5650A stamped there.. I do not see anything on the left side where the motor bolts to the transmission. I'm still cleaning though so maybe something will show up.

Clutch lever on the right on early, pre live power Eagle Hitch model, about 1951 and older. The later ones clutch lever is on the left, and both brake pedals on the right. This is a draw bar tractor, no live pto and no hydaulics. The last ones had a single spool, non live hydraulic pump available as an option.

It's somewhere between a 1946 and 1948 model SC. I have a 1945 model and a 1949 model and it's not like either of those.

If the serial # tag is not screwed to the dash, some were hand stamped into the clutch housing. Paint covers the # quite well. I see that my last post didn't get all the info included. To get the two didgets of the year manufactured, subtract 4 from the first 2 didgets. (example: serial #487890 = 48 - 4= 1944=year made) Look carefully, the # on the housing is hard to find. All Racine tractors came off the lines were tagged as the were going out the door, so an LA & a DC or an SC may have consecutive #'s. Jal-SD

SC for sure as others have said. Don Livingston has a remake battery carrier for it. Very nice kit.

Nobody mentioned the air cleaner. DC had rectangular cast iron air cleaner and SC has round stamped air cleaner.

I have a 48 SC that has the model SC on the seat bracket...yours is the only other one I've seen like it. Looks like the original paint would shine up good enough to make a guy proud in a parade.
