G310W Tractor timing question

Buddy has a G310W tractor that has a gas engine. He was trying to time it and he assumed his dry manual clutch bell housing (torque tube) had a hole like my Case diesel 530 to align timing marks. He couldnt find a hole or plug he could unscrew or remove. He managed to time it using #1 spark plug hole on compression stroke yet he would like to fine tune it. Any tips would be appreciated. He also would like clarification on what the G and W stand for. I suggested General Purpose and he figures the W stands for Wide rear wheel base or wide tires.

G = gas engine.

I understand W = Warehouse series tractor.

These pics for 300 - 300B series tractors, don't know if it is the same as yours.
