Good morning folks. I usually hang out on the Ford N page because that's what I have, But...I have a chance to but a 1947 Chase
VAC. "Ran when parked" in 2006. Been sitting out in the field since then. Seems to be complete. The muffler is missing
exposing the exhaust to rain/snow. Can't tell if the engine is locked or not. Just wondering how available parts are and if
it's a good candidate for saving. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking of offering her $200 for it.

Looks like a nice straight tractor. Is that configured to run on LP gas??? Never seen that on a VAC. If that exhaust has been open its probably stuck. They are a gutsy tractor for their size. But its a costly challenge if its stuck. just my opinion gobble

I paid $300 for one of the VAC's I have and $200 for the other. I used the one I paid $300 for to rake hay. Yes good chance it is locked up but till you pull the plugs and do a wick test one never knows for sure. One can turn it into a $1000 machine just selling it off for parts.

If the weep hole in the exhaust manifold isn't plugged, you have a chance that no water got in. I'd take the plugs out and shine a light in there. If it looks OK, put some ATF in the cylinders and let it sit a bit before trying to turn the engine over. If I could get that for $200 I'd take it stuck or not.

The front axle is worth $200. You can easily have more money in tires than a tractor is worth. The one rear tire looks pretty good. Maybe you will only have to buy one rear tire.

I have 2 parts VAC tractors and one that with a little TLC will run so guess maybe you need to take a drive up north LOL

Kirk, I see it has a serial number tag, take the first two numbers an subtract 4 it will tell you what year it is. My dads tractor starts with a number 54 so minus 4 it is a 1950. The tractor looks in nice shape by your pictures. It would make a fun project and than a handy tractor too have around. Jerry from Ohio

Well I offered her $200 and she said no. But if I took the baler I could have them both for $100. Hope to get them home this weekend.

What make of baler are you bringing home with the VAC? Post some pictures of everything when you get it home. We like looking at pictures of Case equipment. :D

Renn small square baler that came with the tractor. I don't have any use for it. Would like tyo see it go to somebody who could use it rather than scrap

I wonder if that baler was made by Hesston? Looks similar to the ones Hesston made for Ford.
