1370/1570 rear casting

Does anyone know where to find the actual casting numbers on 1370 or 1570 rear ends? Not the serial tag but casting number. Have a crack and can fix but would rather replace rears. I know what pieces are different but wanted to check the pile of rear ends at the local salvage yard for a replacement. Thanks

I have replaced a half dozen of the rear tubs and never needed a casting number. Using your trans serial number and the parts book it is easy to determine the number range you need to search. At one time our local yard had a pile to choose from but sent most out as scrap because of lack of sales. They can be had for cheap at a lot of yards now but look for one that has been in storage . I have bought a couple rusty ones and regretted the time needed for proper clean up. I have a good one now laying outside you can have for scrap price but needs cleaning. Rod.

I thought of that but was hoping to just be able to do a quick look at a casting number verses trying to read tag numbers that are sometimes hard to read. Thanks for the response. I?ll check tags against the manual.
