Went to fire up the old Case 600

Has not run for about a year but always fired right up almost instantly before after sitting.

Went to fire it up and no go, tank was dry, plug at bottom of tank was leaking.
Dumped in 5 gal of diesel, it will fire and run on either but not run on it's own.

I pulled off lines and plugs and as far as I can tell I have fuel in the filters and day tank (gravity tank).

Still nothing.

Does this system need to be bled at the power cells or is there something else I am missing?

Giving it to my son to clear snow with at his new place come winter so no rush but do need to get it moved.

When you let them do that at Best all you will have to do it bleed to complete system in the correct steps,, some will use air to pressure it up and bleed I always fill the tank FULL to bleed them, you have three filters to bleed, starting with the first stage filter and so on, last one can take some time to get bled also has to be on level ground, then I would loosen each injector line at the injector and crank with throttle wide open,, until you get airless fuel at each injector, If your injection pump did not seize beings it was dry on fuel and you did not twist off a part inside it this will get you running again, hopefully this does it,, if not dsl tech or one of the other pump guys will tell you the bad news and what and if it can be fixed I know Don Livingston had a part made for the rotary pumps a while back if that is all it broke and if it did,, when cranking it to bleed the lines after bleeding all filters have been properly bled if your compression release still works I like to pull it so you are not cranking against compression and of course do not over heat the starter doing this Good Luck

Thanks Case Nutty 1660

The tip of using the compression release did the trick.

I pulled the lines off the 3 easy to get to injectors and wound it over until I was getting good flow out of the lines.

Did them back up and gave it a quick shot of starting fluid, it caught right away and inside of 30 seconds it was firing on all 6.

Topped up the fluids and drove it the 4.5 miles to the sons place.

Big smile on his face when I asked him where he wanted his birthday present parked.

A good running 500 600 should fire up when cold
if its got good charged batterys,a water heater
would help.
Does that 600 have 3 point or loader?

(quoted from post at 18:56:18 08/24/19) How does your son plan to start the 600 this Winter?

He has a shop to keep it in and it has a good block heater on it.

I used it to clear snow for many years before I bought a wheel loader.

As long as it is plugged in the old girl will fire right up in -40.

This one has a heavy duty homebuilt dozer blade on the front of it with a pivot system and hydraulic cylinder mounted on a rail along side the engine to raise and lower it.

I thought about a blade on front of my 500.its
got weights galore.low gear be pretty mean to
stop.those old tractors were darn tough
