Hi all, What fluid do you use in the brakes of a 4690? Last owner put in actual brake fluid and ruined the seals. I am assuming some sort of mineral oil but want to be sure before I put anything into it.

Thanks,
Ken

My 4490 lid said ATF ,I am not home to check it out for sure so maybe different models take different fluid. Jerry

I'd imagine 4490 would be the same. ATF would be easier get than Hytran around here. Thanks for the replies.

You feellows should get in more.
Into the cylinders I mean .
The brake cylinder and its slave both use exactly the same rubbers as have been used since 1946.
the fluid is normal brake fluid and if you think that rots the seals then you have been conned by repairers and manufacturers.
The brake cylinder comes off easy so remove it and have a look . No doubt it will benefit from the clrsn.
