Reliance ag parts quality

Anyone ever have issues lately with reliance brand parts? Put a set of reliance lifters in my 504bdt then later found out many people are having problems with them breaking, though none are stock applications, and neither is mine (3000rpm) . Maybe they aren?t breaking them in correctly? Could resurface an original set and swap them in but I?d prefer not to.

Overhauled my 504 2 years ago. First day in the field all 3 head gaskets leaked. Put oem gaskets in last winter and didn't leak all spring. Other than that so far so good. I didn't replace cam or lifters.

I have heard of the Lifter problem, but $hit happens. Reliance is a distributor, buying from the major manufacturers, then re-branding with the Reliance name. Problem is, all the manufacturers have bought up 1 another and gone overseas.
A major problem with an overhaul, is not knowing what one is doing. I sell an engine kit, and 10 months later I get a call about a blown head gasket. I ask about sleeve protrusion?? What's that I'm asked? Or, did you re-torque the way CASE says to?? How's that I'm asked??
I had a customer install 4890 head gaskets, then call back and complain coolant leaked all over. I discovered they used 148 engine tightening specs. They assumed 148 and 4890 must be the same. Truth is stranger than fiction.

A lot of problems with flat bottom lifters after they removed Zinc from motor oil. Make sure you add it to your break in oil.
