ferguson weeder harrow

Has anyone seen or used one of these? I could use a 3pt harrow for my VAC, as I have very close quarters to work with in my mini-farm. Used 3pt drag harrows are 350+ around here. There is a ferguson unit near me for a almost scrap price. I would leave the wings up for weight. Wondering if it would do the job of breaking up soil after disking....missouri soil is pretty heavy.

Hope you can open the pic, otherwise it is a ferguson mko 21 weeder.

Cant open it. What part of missouri you in? We got all kinda soil in southwest mo,it can be hard to get a just rite seedbed some seasons

If what you're referring to is called a Ferguson fine tine weeder, yes we have one. We used to use it to air out wet spots during wet spring years and also to really smooth out fields just prior to alfalfa seeding. It worked well for both tasks in sandy ground but is not very aggressive. IMHO it would not do much in heavier ground. Don

No, it doesn't look very aggressive.

Thanks all, I was interested at $85 but I am glad I asked for some advice from folks who had one. I will pass. if someone needs it it is near topeka ks on craigs list.

A weeder is exactly what that unit is. Not meant for tilling the soil. We use these in Organic production, after the crop is up to take out very tiny weedlings. The weeder will disturb the top inch of soil, take out the weedlings, and not hurt the crop. Having said that, in our clay, if it gets a heavy crust, the rotary hoe works best.

Kevin, that is quite ok. I just wanted to clarify in case someone thought they had to have such a nice one for 85.00. Didn't want anybody to get their hopes up. However, it doesn't sound like there would be many takers for its limited possibilites. However, at 85 it is a bit cheaper than the eagle hitch rotary hoe I saw advertised last month. Guy claimed it was 1 of 5 known to exist.
