Case 1175 Brakes

Good afternoon everyone. I?ve got a case 1175 that I had recently bought and yesterday afternoon I hooked a plow to it and made a couple test passes around the field as I was planning on plowing with it this morning. I pulled it back into the barn and noticed that the right side brake if you were setting on the tractor was smoking. It seems as though the brakes are dragging or have tried to lock up. It is the disc brake style and after looking at it the out side of that rotor is pretty grooved up. I?m sure all of the grooving that the rotor has didn?t happen in the 20 minutes I ran it so it very possibly has been doing it for a bit before I bought it. My question is has anyone else seen one do this and what did you end up having to do to fix it? I need to get it back in service ASAP but don?t have much experience with this style brakes on a tractor.

Gotcha, I?ll do it. Hopefully that takes care of it. Looking at it there might be a little bit of fluid around the piston on the caliper. Does anyone know if they still sell the rebuild kits for these?

Is an 1175 a disc brake like an 1170 was? I went through nightmares with one, the brakes ALWAYS drug, to the point the PO put a sickle section rivet in the flared fitting on each side so they were plugged off. :D It ended up being partly a blockage in the master cyl., and a missing wire "T" that held the check open - it shows it in the service and parts manuals. Make sure that didn't break off and disappear. If the caliper is leaking, it MIGHT be sticking, but they usually don't stick enough to actually smoke.
