Case DC-3 1951 water pump leak? bad pump?

I have a coolant leak coming from what I believe is the underside of the water pump. Coming from opening on the bottom side, underneath the grease zerk. Typical it's worse when motor is hot. Tractor not overheating around 180 when pulling disk. Since this tractor sat awhile I'am only running straight water to try to clean out some the junk in the radiator. Is that part of my problem? Can the pump be rebuilt or by new?
Is it worth to try a stop leak product?

thanks

If you are trying to clean the system up I would suggest a flush designed for that purpose, The water pump has a moving seal so I am sure a sealer will not do u any good. Water pumps are not badly priced and available from suppliers who contribute to this forum, I would advise to to replace it.

Thebald in Iowa did a good job rebuilding several D series water pumps for me. Unlike the C series, the D series has an encapsulated replaceable seal assembly that is available. I had to furnish the old pump for them to rebuild. Turnaround time was good.

Cleaning the cooling system on old tractors can be a real challenge that flushing will generally not solve. Long story how I have dealt with the C, L, and D series cooling systems to restore them.

A general consideration is a flush solution does not flow thru plugged core tubes. Therefore any plugged core tubes remain plugged. They have to be "roded" out--carefully.

I have a 1952 DC3. The cooling system on my tractor has been an issue ever since I bought it. My water pump was leaking. I replaced it. Radiator leaks periodically. Pour in some stop leak and it holds for a while.

My experience with DC water pumps is almost always the same. The seals are almost always good. The problem is the shaft rusts under through the seal and they leak under through the seal. I grind the rust out to good steel and braze the shaft up so it can be turned in the lathe to original size. 8 times out of 10 I use the old seal, but new seals are available for $15 last time I bought some. Don Livingston had them last I know. Not a bad job, but I have done dozens.

thanks for the responses.
Sounds like I need to remove the pump at least.
Does a guy have to take the radiator off to remove pump?

Another question do these DC have a frost/freeze plug in the block?
