Case VA Series Hydraulic Pressure

I have a double-acting (4 way) hydraulic valve with a built in relief valve that I would like to use to control a remote cylinder. I would return the oil back to the torque tube via the unused working port when using a single acting cylinder. This tractor has the low pressure system, and the relief valve can only be set as low as 1000 psi per the valve specs. Will 1000 psi cause too much pressure on the pump, should I ever get it to that point? I can?t think of many situations where I would. Thank you.

1000 psi is what the eagle hitch max relief setting is, that said no 1000 psi should not hurt the pump but how you plumb it in tot he system could if you make it able to dead head the pump,, if you make sure that can not happen I do not see a issue, hopefully mEl will see this post and add some insight on his thoughts here, I have seen a number of loaders ran with that pump with no issues

Thanks CN, I always get told I don't know what I'm talking about on this subject after 50 years working on hydraulics!! Simply stated, if you insert the valve inline with the inlet coming from the pump and the outlet back to the tractor system you must use a power beyond type valve with a drain line to protect the pump. Without this type valve you create a situation where the oil pressure builds on the backside of the relief and renders it inoperable which under the right circumstances will split your pump wide open.

Please do not do like the gentleman did a few months back, try it and find out the hard way on a $1200 dollar pump!

Thank you for the responses. I will be using the double acting valve with relief valve as the only hydraulic valve on the tractor. Oil will come in from the pump and go out to the torque tube. Working ports will go to a set of couplers to be used with a remote cylinder. The Eagle Hitch cylinder will be used like a single acting remote cylinder; it will not use the control valve on the hitch. Is a power beyond valve required in this case?
