mounting VAC rear wheel center

so i painted the rear wheel centers and rims on my 46 VA that has the 5 wheel wedges . is there a tick or method to mount the rim to the wheel center without scratching them up and without mounting the center to the axle? i have never done one a Case.

I put a hydraulic jack under the axle with blocking in place for safety
Turn the center to where one point is on top, then bolt one lug on top with the nut all the way on with one thread showing.Do not put the other lugs on yet.
Have the center at a height were that you can roll the rim/tire into place with the anti rotation lug on top placing it into the lug. Then raise the tractor up with jack until rim/tire have just enough weight on them that you can move into place to put the other lugs on.
Once all of the lugs are on snug nuts down just enough to hold the rim from moving. Place a piece of blocking on the floor next to the tire and raise the tractor enough to rotate the tire. Rotate the tire and watch between the blocking and the tire. You can then tighten or loosen lugs to true the wheel as needed.
Good luck and please post pics of your work.

I must have read you post too quickly,as I missed where you wanted to mount the rims on the centers without the centers being on the axle. It will be tough to true the rims without the centers on the axles so you can rotate them.
