1070 rear axle hubs

Can anyone tell me the correct procedure on sliding the rear wheels/hubs out on the axle on an 1977 1070? I have a pretty good idea but would liken to hear it from someone with a little experience. Thanks

Jack it up, block the tractor up, clean the axle the direction you want to move, clean the threaded holes in the hub with a tap, remove the bolts holding the wheel to the hub, oil the threaded holes, use bolts to push the wheel off the hub, a good strong impact is helpful, use plenty antiseize on the axle, drive a chisel or wedge into the split in the hub to release it from the axle, make sure the key moves with the hub when you move it, clean up the hub and antiseize the hub and all bolts before pulling the wheel onto the hub, install short bolts into the threaded bolt holes to keep them clean.

Loosen the bolts, take three out and screw them into the threaded holes. Tighten til the taper comes loose. If they have been tight a long time get ready to use all your cuss words. After the push bolts are as tight as you can get them, whack the axle with a large mall to help pop them loose. Once the wedge is loose a chain and hydraulic jack works good to pull the wedge out. Takes lots of hands tho. I welded a piece of angle to a short piece of pipe to go over the top of the jack to hold the chain.

I should add that you need to tighten the bolts evenly, if you crank down on one you can break the wedge. Just snug them up, then work around and around the axle tightening each one a little at a time.
