dumb vac question

Since I am doing the rear seals on my VAC I have the option of moving the weights if I want to. They are on the outside now. Did Case have a mounting preference. There won't be any putting them on taking them off going on so inside mounts would work. I do use the tractor for garden work. TO me it looks like the weights obstruct the view of some pretty cast wheels.

Not a dumb question, I've thought about looking into cutting the rear weights into 2 halves that I can handle better to do possibly the same thing. I agree that the rims are hidden with them on and the tractor would look better with them hidden behind rims

My '52 VAC came with the weights on the inside, however the wheel stars were on "backwards". Yes I know they can go either way but to me they look right looking at the convex side. :)

To each his own...mine are on the outside.

On the 4 VACs I have they have them both inside and out side. Me I prefer them out side. Why because if you want to remove them you can with out pulling the whole wheel assembly. If on the inside and you need to remove them you are then working with a lot more weight and a lot bigger piece of iron and tire

On the 28" wheels I think they look better on the outside like your picture. I realize inside means pulling the wheel if you want to remove the weights, but I cannot imagine this happening.

I would think if your pulling the wheels any way put them on the inside. Do you ever remember dad removing weights unless he was trading tractors? Then he usually kept his rims and tires.
