Hey old friends here is a old friend of mine

Here is my old friend in her early days, with a 20' Case chisel plow model "WC" ( right Tom?) this tractor stayed on oour farm for 4 years before my Dad finally told me its got to go. It had more guts then most of the 30 series I had operated. So in 1974 I think it was sold to a young potato farmer and was cared for and doing what she was built for

This is her currently, she was resold to another owner, and baled hay for years, she was cut on abused, and still she continued to serve. Then one more owner who probably took the best care of her. He said she has 18,000 hours now. Guess you can see I care alot about this one, and this picture does show her good side. My old friends will understand

Second picture shows what a 1030 would pull here, E SD. Can't pull a 20' chisel with the 1170 here if you want to do a good job. Must have some light ground up there, Dan.

Ground is lighter in some areas yes most of our 3000 acre farm was both. It wasn't socked into the gills, but it did a good job, but again this girl was hot.

Thanks for sharing Dan, wish we had taken a few pics of life on the farm as a youngster. We took people pics, never thought of taking a pic of a tractor or farm scene. Rod.

Dan,

You are extremely fortunate to have that 1030 back, and by the same token it is fortunate to be with someone who really cares about it. Nothing like the sound of a 1030 under a heavy load. Don

Yes Don, I couldn't agree more, but I'm doing what 40 plus years ago that I hated, Dad was gearing the farm up, and decided to put a 3000 Dual loader on her, as at the time in the first picture it had 4000 hrs. already on her. So he thought it was time for her to be a yard tractor at the store. I disagreed. I hooked her back up to the disk, and went out disking man it was hard on her I thought bouncing around the field.

And now I'm doing the same thing! I'm putting a loader on her, guess will see how this goes.

Don, yes I couldn't agree more, I love them under load also

At least with tractors, this kind of thing can happen. Almost unheard-of when it comes to cars, even though there are many more of them, they just don't have the longevity. I'm sure my tractor, not quite as old as I am, will outlast me without even trying.

Ande,

Great pics and story! It's pretty awesome to see a tractor of that age still putting in a solid days work.

I would agree with casecollectorsc; it wasn't too long ago that I was farming with my Dad in NW Iowa and pulling a 20' chisel with a Ford TW-35 II FWA and it would even pull it down under tough conditions.

Thanks for sharing.

Rodd

I also ran across a few more of the really NICE combine models pics I have

Thanks for info follow up Tom, I wish I still had that chisel plow. Those are nice collectors you have shown, to bad they cant make them

Hey thanks Rodd, yes, I do enjoy having it back, and plan on keeping her. Yes, those days are keepers, I can still hear her open up and pull through some those hills.

I normally carried Rod a Kodak, in my pickup glove box, and really glad I did, I have a bunch more I think that I would love to share with my old friends

Dan, Do you remember when Case Co. had made a deal with a South American Country and they backed out on the deal when the 70 series tractors were introduced ????
We were offered truck load deals 3, 1030s without choice of options. $7.000 each with limited floor plan. (3 months) I think. We ordered 9 1030s Some were 1032s some 31s, some had big fenders, some had 18.4x34s and some had 23.1s and others had 18.4x38s They had a wide variaty of weights.
It was pretty easy to sell them for $9,9995.oo and embellish the sale with other implements such as 70 loaders.
Loren

Glad you have it back! She weathered the years alright it looks like. I remember sitting on the fuel tank of the 930 as a little kid with grandpa pulling grain wagons. Had a heat houser like that. Still have the 930 too.

We never got into field cultivators or summer fallowed ground here. Fields were moldboard plowed and then hit with a disc and then a light spring tooth harrow.
There are a few that now use a lighter version of field cultivator with a roller baskets, after chisel plowing rather than moldboard plowing. A few others are "No tilling" and having mixed results. The ones having good results are also top dressing with fertilizer and diligent with a proactive spray program, pending weather conditions. This years weather did not cooperate, and neither did the weather for harvesting.
Loren

Yes! Loren, Dad signed up for 6 I think and as you said they came in a dukes mixture. They sold them and made some money too!

Yes, it is, its like a old dog that has been gone and comes home! Good memories isn't it. Glad you still have your 930.

Loren,, I think the 930 I have was ordered on the same close out program that was offered at the same time,, Dan do you remember a dealer called Pinto supply I think it was? he was in ND or MT I need to look at my one 800 as it has a Pinto sticker still, he was raising cane at the dealer meeting about how he could not get enough 1030's an he could sell all he could get, and kept interrupting the presentation, Dad said they stopped after the third tome or so he spoke out and took him aside to get his order's signed for I think it was four or five train car loads of 1030's,, full dealer retail,, I guess he shut up then as the meeting continued, then the 70 series was introduced a few min later,, Along with the 30 series close out sale I am sure was part of the program with the 1030's ect you speak of the deal fell through on,, I guess Ole Pinto about had a Stroke when he heard the discounted prices he had Not gotten on his order,, if I am thinking right they did allow him the discounts but it was not known to him until the meeting was all but over lol the deal on our 930 was X amount of dollars, and was due when sold or 12 months I thought as I know we had it close to a year on lot before selling as we had been getting 70 series in and selling even before the 930 hitched a ride from a Company store in IA where it was being stored until it was spoken for

Yes, Tom, I do remember, Dad talking about a dealer that was selling 30 series to beat the band, and he seemed to fade away. Kinda as they say around here, "Big Hat" No Cattle"

Someplace Tom and Loren I have a blurry picture of one new "930" still on our lot surrounded with several 70 series, that the company dumped at our dealership. Will need to look for it during Christmas

Rodd, I'm really torn to put a loader on her, as I really was upset when my Dad did it. But for now, I will tolerate, guess he had his reasons, and I have mine.

There was a little bit of weather like that south of us. Here it was dry as a bone really all year, then came beet, potato harvest, and dry bean, and the heavens opened up. ( nice dry grain harvest)
