I am going to change an axle seal on my vac (late 1951) this winter. Don't know yet if I will need a speedi sleeve. I don't have a micrometer. Best I can tell the axle is 2 1/2" IF anyone knows for sure if that is the size I would need please let me know.
Thanks as always.

Got the seal from him. Just trying to get a verification on the speedi sleeve size. Never used one before. Not sure I need it. I suppose who ever
sells them around here would have a book on sizes, but not sure on that. Shaft looks like 2 1/2 but I dont have a mic

I would be very surprised if the axle would be worn enough to need a sleeve. They turn very slow. If you need a mic to see how much it is worn, the seals will easily flex enough to compensate for that amount of wear. The only thing would be if they have cavities from moisture/rust but for that i would suggest a jb weld fix.

My local NAPA auto parts stocks speedi-sleeves. They may need to order ones that large. Check the price before you decide that you need them, they are probably close to $40 each.

John, I am learning you have everything! I will let you know when i get into it. I am inclined to think by the wear on the rest of the tractor the axles will be clean.
