The 580 brings the logs to the splitter, 450's hydraulics power the splitter and the 430 hauls away the finished product. Did this for 3 days, the first day was fun, the
second OK and by the third I was darn happy to be finished, Rod.

Those old bones got cold I bet, hehe, least I feel that at times, and bone tired too!! I like your shed too Rod, how big is it? I like the windows you put in,, how many?
Nice to see the old boys out there working Rod, nice post

Dan the shed is 40x80 and cold storage only. The windows are a clear plastic and are a replacement for the ridge light companies used to use. They match the tin profile and fit perfectly eliminating the leakage issue with the old ridge lights. They really light up the shed inside. Rod.

Rod,

You come well-armed for the task at hand. My neighbor used to say, "Making wood is fun, if you don't HAVE to do it, otherwise it's just plain hard work." Lots of wisdom from my now gone buddy Leo. Don

I also had really good help this summer when we made all my firewood.
Dustin is a 14yro, and stayed with us and my cousin, his grandfather this summer. He lives in a commuter/bedroom, town and he wanted to spend his summer as he put it "doing something".He learned to drive the tractors quickly and he kept me working to stay ahead of him. We really enjoyed having him with us this summer. He sure had 2 hollow legs though, but that was small pay for his help. Beth also took him school shopping before he went back home to start school.

Don, I love cutting wood. It is very satisfying to load up a big trailer full of split wood. Even more satisfying when you have built all the equipment to make it fun, rather than work, and everything works as you designed it to. The woods is also a really nice spot to set when all the equipment is silent and you can just pull up a block of wood and enjoy the quiet for a while.
Things went perfect this season with Dustin's help. We cut, split and stacked 26 cord of wood and it is all under cover adjacent to my work shop where the wood boiler is. No going outside to get snow covered wood to stoke the boiler.
It's a good thing we made extra, because the heating season started early this year. I have already burned 3-1/2 cord of wood.

Loren, I think all your friends here agree strongly you are well setup too cut, process, and deliver a nice cob of wood! And stack it nicely, Loren I think you should put on a class! Hehe
