Case 800 serial number question?

According to the used tractor price guide they started with ser.# 8140001 in 1959 and they made about 20000 per year in the previous two years so yours would be a
late 59 model.A true Case guy can give you a better answer I'm sure.

OK, thanks also does it have a pto brake? The owners manual shows adjusting the pto clutch and not the brake. The service manual shows how to do it but on the opening into the pto housing is not the same on the 800? I could possibly send pics if needed.
Thanks,

Yes the 700/800 had a pto brake, to apply it you push down on the lever and thee is a lock tab that holds it down, if you can push a bit more down on the lever past the lock and it stops you can lengthen the linkage to apply more brake action int he locked position
cnt

Ok, the reason i ask is with the tractor running the pto spins. When I got the tractor it ran for about 10min then die so i started replacing the fuel filters the first filter was full of rust and 1/2 of sludge on the bottom, the second had ice in it. So i pulled the fuel tank and plan on lining it. So when i finish I will try the pto again with a load.

Dan,

Any pics of your 800b? Glad to have another 800b owner on the forum! Here's a couple I picked up earlier this year for restoration.

Sure i will try to get some this after noon. the sheet metal is off for painting. Does anyone know how tighten the pto brake? I will try to post a pic of a Allis Chalmers CA i did last year. :)

Dan,

Your PTO bake should look similar to this. The pie shaped bracket is adjustable up/down and the horizontal arm on the right-side of the lever should be spring loaded and 'captured' under the bracket to fully stop the PTO.

Why line the tank when you can take the time and clean it. I would like to share ,if you want some advice on the subject. Been down this road several times and glad I did not line them.CM

The tank was full of rust on the bottom and i did not what to replace filters again. Bought the liner from All States Ag parts for $50, cheaper than replacing filter right?

Here are some pics, kinda stripped! Let know if they download.
