Old Photo - 1941 Case SC

Hello all! Well, I think I may have come across the earliest known photo of the 1941 Case SC in my family. This picture was taken in the early 1970's when my grandpa (Norman Christopherson) took a trip to a local salvage yard to get a tractor to use on his lake property. Mostly for hauling wood, and maintaining his large garden. He found the 1941 Case SC, and ended up taking it home. It was a workhorse until the early 1990's when he died in 1993, and it sat in the woods at the lake place until about 1999 when I finally got my dad to hook it to his Jeep and drag it out so I could wrench on it. It has come a long ways since then, and the hunt continues for more family photos of the Case.

The photo is shortly after getting the tractor home, and my grandmother (Josephina Christopherson) is sitting in the driver's seat. Notice you can see where the hood had been cut for the center exhaust elbow to be flipped around and turned out the side. It also had fenders from another tractor on the yard installed on it. My grandpa had a way of tinkering with things, and I know that is how I got to be who I am today. I hope you guys enjoy the photo! (I even included one from this past fall).

Ken, Do I see the chicken roost rewelded on the first pic. I may only have one eye, but I see pretty good out of the other.CM

Yup. It was re-welded. There were many modifications that were done to this tractor. Took a lot of work to get it back original. Grandpa had cut the grill and top cowling apart and had hacked in a car radiator of some kind just to keep it going. Here is a photo of some of that. Everything was wired to the front with old wire clothes hangers, and was sitting on top of blocks of wood. No screws or bolts holding it in place, just the wire and a bunch of nails pounded around the front of the grill into the wood blocks. He did what he had to in order to keep it running. My cousin would always tell me that he would go up there and get it running smooth for him.. And two weeks later he would come up and my grandpa would have it all messed up again, lol. "It ran pretty good, you know, but I just adjusted this hear and now I can't get it to run for nothing." Ha ha, grandpa ALWAYS had to tinker. I love hearing those stories (I was pretty young when he passed so don't remember much).
