VAC Air Cleaners

I bought an air cleaner on eBay for one of my VAC's, but it doesn't fit any of them. I have a '49, '51, and '52. The air tube out does not line up with the carburetor. Also the air inlet stack is longer and the cup is held on by 2 bolts with wing nuts. I see from the parts lookup that there are 3 different part numbers, but one drawing which shows very little anyways. Is it likely that I got a pre '49 air cleaner? Were there any changes late in the VAC run?

Thanks!

The change occurred during the 1947 model year when they went from the one piece to the two piece manifold. There is also a short style that was used on VAO and other versions when the under slung exhaust was used. It had the cap on the short stack of the filter housing so that it would fit under the hood. So what I have is a regular VAC air filter 1947 and earlier?

Thanks. I guess I'll just put it in stock in case I get an older VAC, lol. I'm bummed because it's in better shape than any that I already have. Maybe at some point I'll have an opportunity to trade it for a newer style.
