Maple Hunter Vinyl: tips?

Got my Case SC Vinyl lettering from Maple Hunter a while back. Getting ready to apply them. Worry about alignment, but his on-line instructions say I can wet the area with soapy water before application. Won't this prevent the Vinyl from sticking? Sounds scary. May skip that part and hope I get it aligned first time 'cause I suspect there will only be one chance.
Then after, do all of you overcoat with some kind of clear spray to seal it?
Tips appreciated,
Dennis

I always use the soapy water. Don't squeagy Them down until you have the decal exactly where you want it. Then squeagy it. Get all the soap and water out from behind it and it will never move again. I have never put anything over them to seal them.

yes that works well, where I used to work we had to apply Big decals on the new equipment to show who they belonged to,, we used widow cleaning spray for the same effect

Wonderful. I just could not imagine that soapy anything on first would ever allow the Vinyl to stick right. I guess it's a matter of squeegeeing the stuff out thoroughly. I've put off doing this because I figured I'd get the long stripes on crooked and be, "stuck," with the results. These are the 3 layer Vinyl products that say, "Scotch," on the backing. First time I've used his lettering.
I'll use mild soap.

(PS: having trouble with postings. I'm logged in but it's saying I'm not - causing oddities, sorry)

Lots of people been having problems, usually with pics though. What operating system are you using, Windows? Lots of people have also been having problems with the Windows 10 updates. Personally I haven't had any but then I use Linux.

I haven't been dealing with photos for this post. Just how to handle Vinyl lettering as it's my first time lettering. Can't comment on posting photos although it seems
I did manage once some time ago.

Case Nutty ...... I think on the cheaper Mylar decals that they sell, they recommend the Windex in the pump bottle but not the pressurized can applicator. Maybe the carrier solvent is the issue.

Hmmm. Well, these I got were supposed to be the higher priced, better quality lettering sets. I know it says Scotch on the back and they appear to be 3 layers: backing which peels off first, the lettering itself, and a top layer that peels off after squeegeeing, etc. I'm not going to get to it for another few days, so I watch here to see if anyone runs up a red flag on my approach.

Right now, I'm planning on wetting the painted hood with diluted soapy water, or, I guess the Windex is another option as I see it mentioned. Then positioning the lettering.
