430 hydraulics

I lifted the hydraulic lift arms to the top now the hand control lever is stuck and will not allow the lift arms to come down. I have tried it with the engine running and stopped and the lever will not move. Any ideas? Thanks

Dave

There are upper and lower stops on the bracket, are they locking it up. Check the linkage going to the hydraulic pump making sure it can move freely and is not binding. Could also disconnect linkage to hydraulic pump and see if the lever on the pump moves, if not then something is locked up in the pump. Have you checked the torque tube level?

If the tractor has the DOM hitch, you may have lifted the arms too high and overcentered the positioning linkage between the arms and quadrant/valve.

Disconnect the hydraulic line to bleed off the fluid. That will tell you if it is a hydraulic lock problem or mechanical malfunction. What year is your 430?

My 430 is about a 1961. I have a 3 pt backhoe on it. If I take the weight off the arms will it help? I worry about removing any hydraulic connection with the weight on. The controls have been tight at times
Dave

You probably already know this, the first thing to do is check your oil level as mentioned and engine needs to be running to drive the hyd pump for pressure to operate the safety interlock to lower the draft arms.

Probably best to take the weight off regardless if it hydraulic or mechanical problem.
