Just got a 411b gas won't start on
it's own have to give it a shot of
either the old boy said the vavles are
burnt but runs perfect no smoke lots
of power I think it is more in the
carb yes chock works but it doesn't
flood over with it pulled on while
cranking getting ready to pull the
carb and have a look inside what's
your all's thoughts?

On my 611b, there is a spring-loaded gate on the choke plate to keep it from stopping the airflow entirely. It had broken off and was laying in the bottom of the air horn. I'm afraid the engine swallowed the spring but didn't seem to hurt anything, dunno why not. But the choke won't kill the motor entirely without it, just make it cough and smoke. Good idea to pull the carb and look even if that's not it. Carb problems are almost ubiquitous on old machines that sit a lot. I habitually shut off the gas and let mine run dry when I put it away, seems to at least help.
