New member & Case owner

Case801-B

Hi all,

I'm a new member and wanted to say hello. I also purchased a new-to-me Case 801-B just a few days ago. I reside in Rapid City SD and picked up this Case in Greybull WY (I also plan to purchase a parts Case 801-B from the same individual cheap).

It's a 'rancher special' if you know what I mean, but with 4670 hours, it runs very nice and operates well. It's just very dirty and needs some TLC!

I plan to perform a cosmetic restoration and fix anything that's significantly worn or inoperable. I'll post updates along the way. My dad (now passed) owned this very same model (including a 930, 611, and 2670 4wd) so I'm dedicated this effort to him. I also belong to the Western Antique Club where I'll show this tractor during our Threshing Bee.

Here's link to a couple of my shared Google Photo's thus far:

Sure glad you are a part of the Case forum Rod, I have been looking for a "801B" for sometime, as my Dad was a Case dealer back then. Hope you find us friendly and helpful. We love pictures and updates, so keep them coming
Dan

Yours is a very late 800B w/ the German Bosch pump & 40 spline steering wheel. Check this out!! Took me over 6 years to fully restore.

Welcome, the folks on here are a mountain of information. Don't be shy about asking questions. I use to make several trips a year up your way My son was stationed at Ellsworth for 6 years. Love that part of the country...........Kenny

Thanks for all the welcoming comments. BTW; here's the parts tractor I'm buying.

It actually has some parts in nicer shape but is rougher overall and I believe has more hours. The dash gauges are nicer (looks like it was replaced), has power steering (my wide front does not), some Eagle hitch components are less worn, original seat, and other smaller things. I can get it for $300-400 but have to drive 5 hours each way.

The serial number on this parts tractor is (as best I can read in the photo): 8121218 ...and the model looks like an 802 (orchard) but it's hard to be sure and wouldn't make sense in Wyoming.

I started to tear into my first tractor last night (fuel tank has a small but constant leak around the back bolt) and I'll likely have many questions along the way!

Great outcome on that 800 John Saeli...I can only hope mine will turn out as well.

If it weren't for the rear wheel hubs being slightly different, I would need to run home an see if my 801B was still where I parked it! They are great tractors and the daddy of the highly successful 30s series.

Have you considered putting on Seal All, you can put that on a leaking tank, and it will seal it up! You can buy it in Menards, in the plumbing dept, or a god hardware store, come's in a bright yellow tube!

So I have the tank off (I should probably start a new thread for this) and it's been repaired previously as you can see in the pics link below.

I was considering the "gooey tank repair" stuff as it's worked for me in the past on smaller equipment, but maybe a more permanent fix is required here?

Here's the pics of the tank: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Dwb52wQt6grFCFo46

I think I'll get it cleaned up and take it to a local welding shop for repair. I can't tell exactly where it's leaking from but it's definitely somewhere around this mounting area. What are your thoughts?

Case801-B,Welcome, that's a great old tractor you have there,Those old 800 series CaseOmatics are one great and good looking tractor and they have my heart. That one looks to be a later model 800 with the inline German Bosch pump and solid wheel centers on it.While your parts tractor has the more problematic and scarce parts, American Bosh PSB pump on it.That dash panel on it looks almost like new.Good luck with your repairs and fix up and keep us posted and pics of your progress.

Your parts tractor looks like what I
think they sometimes called the
sugarbeet special, like some SC's and
DC's were equipped, with single front
and the long rear axle option. It would
make for a neat tractor in itself.
Perhaps you need to find a 3rd 800 for
parts for your 2nd 800 parts tractor. 🙂

Regarding the 802, there has been some
confusion regarding the numbering system
on these. An 802 is a western special
(large fendered version of the standard
tread tractor)

Well that throws a wrench into my plans! Seriously though, I'll definitely consider a restoration of both tractors in light of this information.

Thanks again for all your input.
