Long Drive From Virginia to Michigan

It sure is a long drive from Virginia to Northern MI and back. Two solid days of driving and I got in after midnight this morning, but it has left me the proud and happy owner of a stylized RC tractor! Will post more pictures next week.

I've seen a few all painted up bright and pretty. They do look nice. But there is something about the way yours has aged so evenly through out that makes it very easy on the eyes. Very nice-looking tractor. gobble

The most agonizing thing for me is whether to leave it and show it as is or paint it and make it look factory new.

There probably is not another RC that looks that good in her first dress. It is unique. Once its painted it just looks like the rest of the painted ones. Unique no longer. But as I always say your tractor you decide. I'll like it either way. gobble

DO NOT PAINT IT!!!. You will spend $1000 to paint it and it will be worth less than it is now. Painted 10 years from now it will be an old restoration, and no one wants them.

You got a nice one. I actually considered buying that tractor a couple months back, and almost did. I just have too many as it is now, and have to use my neighbors shed to have room to keep them all inside. He keeps hinting he?s going to become more active with farming and will need the shed space, so I felt I better pass, as tractors like that are too nice to leave sitting outside here in MN. Glad it went to a good home.

Very nice clean looking RC. When I'm looking around tractor shows, I'm always drawn to any tractor that is original and unpainted looking. Its more interesting to me to see the rust and original paint. The old original hardware all in place is what I like seeing. No stainless or chrome plated stuff! I've been given a lot of grief from a buddy for scavenging around for bolts and nuts that are original or original looking! I'm in central Virginia too and hope to see this tractor at a show one day - maybe the Somerset Steam and Gas show? Good luck with this nice tractor!

My Plans are to show it at the Somerset Pasture Party and at Field Days of the Past in Rockville. I am also toying with the idea of talking to the guys at Keystone and seeing if they are interested in displaying it when it is not at those two shows or on a field trip to make a youtube video of pulling an F170 rake or running a burr mill.

The consensus seems overwhelming not to paint. As I was going back and forth and couldn't make up my mind, it looks like no paint, at least for the foreseeable future. I will take the advise of the board!

OK, good I'll look forward to seeing it next year! I go to both if those shows every year. Post some more pictures if you can -thanks.

Look at it like this-- If you do paint it, you can't undo that. If you don't you can always change your mind.
