1070 hydraulic ??

Hello I have ?? on the hydraulic system on my 1070 I use it on my 499 haybine on the
haybine it has a single hose for raising the head , I don't like the idea that when I lower
the head that one line has pressure on it ( my Allis has float so when I lower it I push it
to float ) I don't believe the case has a float( can't find anything in the book ) spot on
the valve which makes the pump work (probably bypass through relief valve) I think that
this is hard on the pump and lines . I have noticed that the pump seems to be getting
weaker as the year goes by it is not as fast as the pump on my 830, dose any one know any
thing about aftermarket pumps like those on Ebay ?? should I plumb a return line back to
the trans housing ?? if so where should it go, I have ordered filters that is my first step
, trans pressure is in the green on the gauge. Thanks Bryan

Just move the lever only far enough to lower the header that way there is no pressure sent to the lower circuit,, I have thousands of hours on mine doing it that way with zero issues,, no need to move the lever full stroke on the lower side on the control

Your 1070 does not have a float position. I don't have any 1 way cyl's, so I've never tried Tom's suggestion. However, see if the cyl. on your haybine doesn't have a capped off port. If it does, simply connect another hose to that port & make a 2 hose circuit to the tractor outlets. The aftermarket '70 series pumps have proven to be OK. We've sold them for several years without any issues.

That is what I have been doing I do not push it all the way ahead , in my owners manual it did not address this ( that I seen ) as for the lift on the haybine it has one way cylinders from the factory thanks for the info . Bryan

Glad to help,, that is the same advice I gave new owners when they bought them new from our dealership for any one-way cylinder operations

Thanks Case Nutty , where was your dealer ship ??, when I went to diesel mechanics school in 81-82 (willmar MN ) one of our teachers was in the Case industry as he called it as a mechanic it was great to here him talk about working on equipment first hand , as I remember he was not a fan of the Flat Rate manuals , he had tricks to repair tractors for example that the flat rate manuals did not use so flat rate time was longer and that was what the customer was charged. thanks for wealth of knowledge people like me that farm with this old iron appreciate it. Thanks Bryan [email protected]

We had a AG/ Utility Contract from 1966 through most of 1976 located in Gillette Wyoming, I was lucky to be able to work in all areas of the shop, selling, look up and ordering parts, setup and demoing of equipment and repairs in the shop,, it was a great time to be a Case dealer

I agree totally Tom, by only moving the control lever a small amount you can raise and lower a single acting cylinder. I have done it for years on my 970 and 1270 while planting, I have to manually operate the markers which are single acting, Rod.

hello case nutty ?? about my 1070 I was chopping silage and the pto slows down under heavy load I have not changed the filters yet, if the pump is week will the pto slip, the guage is in the lower green when it is running . If I check the pressure on the outlets what should it be would this determine if the pump is week on the pto side. Thanks Bryan 320 278 3590

sounds like it may be time for a pto clutch rebuild,, it only takes 200 or so psi to lock up the clutch pack, unless you have a cable issue not moving the pto control spool far enough I am betting the pack needs rebuilt,, but even so if it was allowed to slip I highly doubt it will last long without a rebuild, I always go through the complete pto unit, and reseal and replace all worn clutch discs and backup plates and check all bearings for smooth running and that they are tight,, I also replace all oil seals on the pto and the 540/1000 shift collar oring while I am there

Hello today I checked the pressure on the pto valve I removed the line going to the dash and put in a gauge about 175 at idle and just under 200 at pto rpm's I also had about 2000 lbs at the outlets then the relief valve opened , I will check the movement of the cable I had trouble with this last year , ( the pivot pin for the lever was loose ) . how costly is a pto rebuild ?? thanks Bryan
