A while back I posted some questions pertaining to hydraulic issues on my 1070, no power steering, 3pt not raising, & very slow remote cylinder lift. However, if I cracked the smaller fitting on the pump I will see air bubbles then suddenly fluid starts pouring out so I re-tighten the fitting & power steering comes back & remote cylinder works. 3pt still won't raise but we'll get to that in a moment. Yesterday, I took off the pto unit, thinking the main suction filter was plugged, it wasn't but I did wash it & reinstalled it. After re-installing the pto we removed the pump & I discovered the o-ring that fits around the inlet tube was missing but I later found it laying in the bottom of the housing, cut in half. Obviously, when it was installed someone put the o-ring around the tube first then it got cut by the counter-bore in the housing installing the pump. I put the new o-ring inside the counter-bore first then installed the pump. After starting the tractor after re-assembly we had to crack the fitting to bleed out air & power steering worked. The pressure reads more into the green now on the dash & the 3pt raises but its pretty weak but at least it raises. (Before the 3pt never raised) Power steering came back after shutting down & we didn't have to bleed the fitting to get the steering back. All we need this tractor to do is plant about 60 acres. I don't want to be over confident here but I hope we made some progress. Perhaps we still have a pump going bad. Any positive comments are appreciated. If I had a pressure gauge, could someone post pics on where I can tap in & what pressures are normal for this tractor. Thank you.

The O-ring on the back of the pump can be a very fussy deal. I have installed the pump with (what I thought) was a proper sized O-ring out of my 0-ring kit, and had the pump suck air. Replaced with the right one from Case and it was fine. Come to find out my replacement O-ring was just a touch off in size. Installing the pump and not smashing or otherwise damaging the o-ring is tricky too. Lube the tube, O-ring, and hole with plenty of Vaseline. I've had better luck with the O-ring on the tube.

If you have any foam in your sight glasses, I'll bet you are pulling air due to the O-ring. This will diminish pump performance.

To check your pressure, with the proper sized gauge (!!!) connect it to a male hydraulic coupling and check pressure with a remote. Pressure....I don't have my manual here I'm thinking 1900 psi would be adequate..???
